Superfood

The start of a healthier lifestyle? Superfoods!

We all know that there are a lot of foods that aren’t all that healthy for us. With that,  I mean a lot more than just fast food and prepared meals you can buy in the supermarket. If you don’t eat healthily, you can develop a higher risk at getting chronic health conditions. I know it is easy to just buy a prepared meal after a long day at work, but cooking fresh vegetables at home really can make a difference. If you aren’t up for that, superfoods –if you ask me- might be the key to a healthier lifestyle.

Ansley Hill states they these superfoods, such as kale, berries, nuts and seeds, olive oil and even eggs, are rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Superfoods, according to “The health benefits of superfoods”, are considered nutrient powerhouses that provide a lot of antioxidants and certain chemicals that are naturally in plants. Therefore most superfoods are plants or plant based, but like eggs, some dairy and fish also make the cut. If you’re craving a snack, superfoods are a nutritious and healthy option, if you ask me because instead of eating fat and bad sugars, you’ll eat vitamins and the good sugars. Instead of reaching to a candy bar, reach for some berries or nuts.

In the article “The health benefits of superfoods” they also say that these foods don’t only make you feel great, but they also have the power to maybe reduce your risk at certain chronic health conditions. Thanks to the loads of vitamins and mineral in superfoods, your body will ward diseases off easier. Superfoods can really help prevent serious diseases such as cancer and heart diseases thanks to the antioxidants they contain. Eating these will help you lose weight, perk up energy levels and reduce aging effects.

People sometimes claim that the superfoods don’t do what was promised to them, but I can assure you that when you consume them with the right diet and maybe exercise a bit more, instead of always eating the same things everyday again, they will have the wanted effect. You’ll need to be more active and eat a little healthier in general for them to fully work. I am very much in favour of superfoods, they help regulate your metabolism, lower your cholesterol and so much more that it is clear that they really deserve the name of “superfoods”. But keep in mind that they don’t just work without a little help, you will need a healthy diet for the superfoods to function optimally.

It is clear that superfoods are a really healthy replacement for unhealthy snacks. I mean, the disadvantages don’t come close to all the benefits they offer. Eating these snacks can be the first step to your healthier lifestyle or the extra thing you were looking for. Don’t hesitate to buy them next time you’re in the store!
